Oslo, March
09, 2010 – Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre
commended the people of Iraq for turning out to vote in the
parliamentary election on 7 March 2010.
“Iraq’s
future is dependent on democratic development and adequate
security. It is therefore very heartening that so many
people turned out to vote despite the tragic terror attacks
during the election campaign and on election day itself,”
said Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in a press statement
issued here.
Relations
between Norway and Iraq are evolving, and there are plans
for cooperation in a number of new areas.
“Norway looks
forward to cooperating with the new parliament and the
future government of Iraq,” said Mr Støre. |
