Oslo, Jan
27, 2010 -- Norwegian Pakistani Kashmir prominent figure,
Ali Shahnawaz Khan attended the first seminar on Kashmir at
the Belgium parliament.
The
seminar "Kashmir: the Key to Peace in Afghanistan" was held
at Belgium Federal Parliament in Brussels on 26th January
(Tuesday).
The seminar organized by Kashmir Council EU, International
Council for Human Development (ICHD) and IPC (IKV PAX) was
the 1st event of its kind on Kashmir issue at the national
parliament of the European country. Belgium has key role in
European Union and its capital Brussels is actual
headquarter of the Union legislating activities.
Kashmiris in all over the world celebrate the 26th January
as black day to protest on atrocities in Indian held
Kashmir. India celebrates the day as republic day but the
Kashmiris say, they oppose the day as India denies their
basic democratic rights and its forces are involved in
atrocities in the Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.
At the begining of the seminar at Belgium’s parliament, Ali
Raza Syed Chairman of the Kashmir Council EU who was the
host of the seminar, hilighted the significance of holding
the moot on Black Day?
Marjan LUCAS of IPC from Netherland spoke on the question:
"Why a seminar on this topic: Kashmir, key to Afghan peace?"
Some of the
European and Belgium parliamentarians and intellectuals
including Mr,Georges Dallemange, Ms. Danielle Caron, MP
(Brussels Parliament), Mr. Andre De Bus, MP (Brussels
Parliament) and as well Mr.Sajjad Karim, the prominent
figure of EU parliament were among the speakers of the
seminar. A conclusion of the seminar emphasized over the end
of atrocities against the innocent people of Jammu and
Kashmir and peaceful solution of the long lasting Kashmir
dispute.
The
seminar was first ever event held on the issue of Kashmir in
the history of the Belgium National parliament
