Oslo, March 16,
2010 – A Norwegian Pakistan Organisation called for
necessary action by the government of Pakistan to protect
the overseas Pakistanis while visiting Pakistan.
In a letter to
the higher authorities in Pakistan including Prime Minister,
Interior Minister of Pakistan and Chief Minister of Punjab
Province, the Islamabad-Rawalpindi Welfare Society Norway
drew the attention towards the rising kidnapping cases of
the overseas Pakistanis in different areas of country. The
letter presented the case of abduction of a five-year-old
British boy by armed robbers in Jhelum is significant
example of the kidnapping for ransom as an example.
The child namely
Sahil Saeed is a British national from Oldham, Manchester
and was recently abducted in the parents’ country, where his
family was on holidays.
Robbers broke
into where they were staying, in Punjab province, and have
demanded a ransom of about £100,000.
The letter said,
an other Pakistani based in Gujar Khan, Mr.Sajjad Saleem
Haider was also last month kidnapped and his brother is
British national. The kidnapper demanded one million pound.
The letter
stated that the authorities, Overseas Pakistanis based in
different countries including Norway and other European
countries usually visit Pakistan to see their relatives. The
visit also caused a huge investment in Pakistan but safety
of the overseas Pakistan is fragile.
We are worried
about us and our family being visits Pakistan. The terror
causing to avoid visiting Pakistan, if the danger further
increased no body from overseas people would travel
Pakistan.
The Norwegian
Pakistani Organisation requested the government of Pakistan
to take necessary steps for the protection of the overseas
Pakistan while visiting Pakistan specially Punjab. We need
appropriate safely in our mother land.
The letter
demanded, Pakistani embassies also should be advised to
provide basic practical information about the ongoing
situation in Pakistan. Necessary guidance
