Oslo, Feb
05, 2010 – A user linked offensive drawing
of the Prophet on
our facebook page earlier in the week. The post
with the link was removed immediately when we became aware
of this. A number of other offensive posts and comments are
also removed. The explanation was issued on website of the
Norwegian Secret Agency, PST on Feb 5, 2010.
In another statement it
was declared that PST
believes that those who post the cartoons that have a
problem and not PST.
-We will
remove all posts that are inappropriate and violates the
rules on our site on Facebook, "said information chief Trond
Hugubakken in the Police Security Service.
He believes there is no PST that has a problem, but those
who post links to these cartoons and writing inappropriate
posts.
The
statement of the official published in Daily Dagbladet soon
after the appearing of the controversial cartoons of Prophet
of Islam on the PST’s face book pages. These caricatures
were linked with the face book from outside.
-Internet is a social medium. The problem is not the
Internet or Facebook or PST, but those items (set out on
pages) of such matters. And there is a problem that some are
far out of line in relation to good Internet ethics. Some
posts may also be criminal. But it's sort of the Internet's
nature. When we choose to use the Internet, it is to have a
two-way communication with. The whole purpose of social
media is to be interactive and that people communicate with
each other, "says Hugubakken.
He said, there is no PST Facebook page that is the problem,
but those who go over the line.
Pst is not afraid that there will be strong reactions from
parts of the Muslim world, since these cartoons are linked
to it via PST Facebook page?
-I will not speculate on any response. We will moderate our
Facebook page so that they are a good basis for people
discussion and maintains an arena where the PST can
communicate with the entire Norwegian population, "says
Trond Hugubakken.
There were
a greive concern in the Norwegian Muslim Society specially
based in Oslo over the publication of once again of the
caricatures on the Web pages as well as in an Oslo based
daily.
Syed
Yousaf Gilani, the Norwegian politician affliated with the
Libral Party welcomed the action of PST to remove the
controvertial caricatures linked to its face book pages. It
is very right step of the PST and we appreciate it. The
Norway is a peaceful country and people from all walks of
life including relegious marjority and minority live in this
country in peace and harmony. It is our duty to maintain the
harmony in the society, Mr.Gilani said.
Earlier a
number of Muslim personalities and as well as Norwegian
Islamic Council and the embassy of Islamic Republic of
Iran in norway condemned the appearance of the
blasphemous caricature of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on
face book linked with the website of Police and the
