Oslo, May 24,
2010 – Norwegian telecommunication firm denied abut the
employment of a suspect arrested in Pakistan.
The man
has been arrested in Pakistan in connection with the failed
bomb attacks in New York this month, is no longer employee
of Telenor, said the company’s official.
- We have
today been confirmed who this person is. The person has
previously been employed by Telenor, but not in a good
while, "says Information Manager of Telenor, Atli Lessum.
Four
people were arrested Friday in Pakistan to have ties to the
Pakistani American Shahzad Faisal, who was detained in New
York shortly after the failed bombing attempt there.
The U.S.
newspaper
The Wall Street Journal wrote that one of the four was
the leader of telecommunication firm, Telenor’s department
in Pakistan.
- But this
is not right, "said Lessum.
Faisal
Shahzad has admitted to have been behind the failed attack
in New York on 1st May. The car packed with explosives and
fuses, as well as chemicals and propane gas was parked in
Times Square of New York.
7 out of ten
prisoners in Norway are foreigners
Oslo, May 23,
2010 -- In the newly opened prison at Halden in Østfold
seven out of ten prisoners foreigners. The foreigners are to
be out of Norway after their sentence.
The
Prison’s officials look after the prisoners from 28
different nations at the newly built prison with Kr.1.3
billion are foreign nationals.
In the
yard, behind the six-meter high walls, it is not a Norwegian
word to hear. Visit the House for families of overnight
visits is mostly empty since most of the inmates do not have
family in Norway.
The Halden
prison was officially opened by King Harald of 8th April.
The prison holds 251 inmates and is Norway's second largest
prison. In all, the prison employees strength is 350 persons
with full-time positions.
